Why should I have a Scott
Boomlock?
|
| Everyone knows how dangerous
a swinging boom can be, when sailing downwind - a moments inattention
or a sudden windshift can cause the boom to come crashing across with
unstoppable force. Previous methods of rigging preventer lines were
tedious and involved either complicated changeovers or a trip up forward
if a change of tack was needed.
The Scott
Boomlock overcomes these problems in a very simple
way, and can remain permanently rigged, with only its light control
line returning to the cockpit. It is strong, compact and close-coupled
underneath the boom.
|
How is the Scott Boomlock
fitted to the boom?
|
| Both models are easy to
mount under the boom, and the standard (Type A) split mounting can
be inserted anywhere into the underside boom track, without any need
to disturb other fittings already in the track. A range of sizes is
available to suit most types of boom in current use. |
 |
| An alternative (Type B)
pop-riveted mounting can be used for booms which do not have underside
tracks. The stainless steel arms can easily be formed in a vice, to
fit the shape of the boom. |

|
| How and where is the Scott
Boomlock made ? |
| The Scott
Boomlock is engineered in the UK from top quality 316 stainless
steel and anodised high strength aluminium. Where different materials
are fastened together, they are insulated to avoid corrosion. On Boomlock
Two, all operating mechanism pivots have self-lubricating
bushes, requiring no maintenance. The experience of many years at
sea has ensured that everything about the Scott
Boomlock is simple, robust and corrosion-free. |
